E. U. of Michigan, 1916; wed Katherine Murphy, of Honolulu, T. H., Dec. 20, 1938; children Mary Katherine (1939), Patricia Lyster (1941). With Mt. News of the Day.


Two high ranking United States naval officers arrived at Auckland yesterday on an official visit to New Zealand, state a Press Assocition message. They are Rear-Admiral Calvin H. Cobb, who commands the service squadrons of the South Pacific force, and Rear-Admiral Carl H. Cottor, who is director of the Pacific division of the bureau of yards and docks. Rear-Admiral Cobb has visited New Zealand twice before, and Rear-Admiral Cotter is making his second visit. They were welcomed on their arrival by Commodore Dowding, D.S.C., R.N. naval officer in charge, Auckland, and Captain Jupp, U.S.N., senior United States naval officer in New Zealand. Both officers have long experience in their country's naval servce.

P.A. AUCKLAND, This Day.
A well-known engineer officer of the United States, Rear-Admiral Carl H. Carter, is visiting Auckland. He is Director of the Pacific Division of the Bureau of Yards and Docks and has previously visited New Zealand. He entered the United States navy in 1917 and has had a varied experience. His present duties are mainly in seeing that the repair and maintenance installations in use against the Japanese are fully up to standard and always ready to meet the calls made upon them.
