    1875 History of Bay City, Michigan. - Descum Culver was member of First Baptist church, served on Board of Trustees, as treasurer.

    1875 - Public & Local Acts of the Legislature of Michigan, Part 2. - Descum Culver was among petitioners for forming Moffit Township, taken from portion of Clayton Township in Bay County. Also, among this group was A. N. Culver and J. W. Culver.

    1876 History of Bay County, Mich. (1892) - Descum Culver's daughter, Elva D., married G. Henry Shearer, on Aug. 22, 1876, at Bay City, Mich.

    1877 - Michigan State Gazetteer Directory: - CULVER. A small village in Moffat township, Bay county. It is a station on the J.L. & S.R., 42 miles above Bay City. Settled May, 1872. Population, 127. Lumber, timber and shingles are shipped. Alvin N. Culver, post-master, owner general store; Culver D. & Bros, planing, shingle and saw mills.
