John R. DECKER.
J. R. Decker, whose appointment as division engineer of the Michigan Central, with office at Bay City, Mich., has been announced in these columns, was born October 27, 1879, at Bellefonte, Pa. He graduated from Bellefonte Academy in 1899 and from the Penn State College in 1903, and began railway work in June, 1903, in the signal department of the Michigan Central. He was a draftsman until December, 1903, and was then for almost two years foreman of construction. In August, 1905, he was appointed supervisor of electric signals, and in May, 1907, was made supervisor of construction. He was promoted to assistant signal engineer in January, 1909, which position he held until July 1, 1912, the date of his appointment as division engineer as above noted.
Decker succeeded E. R. Lewis, who resigned to take job with another company.
1918 - John R. Decker married to Norma Lieberman (b. 1888, Det., MI) on 5 Jun. 1912, Norma is daughter of John P. and Emma (Hornburg) Lieberman, of Detroit. Norma died Apr. 15, 1918 in Daytona, Volusia, Florida.
1920 - John R. Decker, b. 1879, Pa., married Charlotte Henze Harris, on 24 Nov. 1920, at Detroit. Johns's parents were Christ Decker & Rebecca Rockey. Charlottes parents were William Henze & Eugenia Leerchner.
