----------
Henry Eickemeyer Gives Plot in Green Ridge Cemetery
to Spanish War Vets.
Bay City is to have another last resting place for her soldiers dead. Soldiers Rest in Pine Ridge cemetery will ever be the place sacred to the memory of the civil war veterans who sleep there. But its last niche will soon be filled.
Henry Eichkeymeyer has just presented the Spanish War Veterans with a plat 44x60 in Green Ridge cemetery which is to be another soldiers' rest for the veterans of '98 and of the world war. The plat will hold 100 graves.
A committee of the Spanish War Veterans has been busy the past month preparing the plat for its mission. Henry Weber has been furnishing teams and dirt to fill in the plat. George Hobes has furnished material for beautifying the pole and plat and E. J. Bissel has furnished a 69-foot flag pole to mark the plat. Sexton C. C. Cuthbert has put in the cement foundations for the pole and plat enclosures.
On Sunday, November 7, the Spanish War Veterans will formally dedicate the plat with the flag pole and flag raising and simple ceremonies provided by the S. W. V. ritual. The S. W. V. camps of Flint and Saginaw will be invited to take part. Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will also participate. The public generally will be welcome. the post of honor will be given to the G. A. R. posts and their auxiliaries.
