MILLER. - Mrs. Mary Ann MILLER died at the residence of C.L. Collins, at Bay City, on April 23, 1904, at the age of 91. She and her husband, the late Judge Albert MILLER, were among the early pioneers of the Saginaw Valley and shared the hardships and compensations incident to building up a new community. Mrs. MILLER was a native of England. Her maiden name was DAGLISH. She was married to Judge MILLER early in life and came to Saginaw county about the year 1838, residing for many years at Bay City. Judge MILLER died forty-five years after the marriage. Of their six children but one survives, Mrs. C.L. COLLINS. Mrs. MILLER is spoken of by those who knew her in younger days as an accomplished and educated woman. A friend says of her: "A loving, helpful wife, a devoted, careful mother, a true, sincere friend, an excellent needlewoman." "Ever gentle and courteous, with a dignified, cultured presence, she was ever the born lady." She and her husband were among the few original members of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, and for many years were among its staunchest supporters. When the Memorial Presbyterian Church was organized (an off shoot from the First) Mrs. MILLER donated the ground on which its first building was erected. Her death leaves one remaining of the original members of the First church - Mrs. Nancy M. Hart.

For several years, owing to the infirmities incident to advanced age, Mrs. MILLER had been debarred from mingling in the social life of the world and was never seen outside her home. Most of her old friends and acquaintances had long since departed, and she was little known excepting to those who are now beginning to be reckoned among the pioneers. Among them she was always thought of with high respect.
