J. F. MOUNT.
_______

J. F. Mount the well-known vocal teacher of Bay City was originally in the drug business, and is still registered pharmacist of Michigan. In 1885 Mr. Mount commence the study of vocal culture in Detroit, placing himself under different teachers and making very marked progress with his art. Eventually he took charge of the vocal department at the Somerville School, St. Clair, Mich., accomplished good results and then accepted a similar position at a private school near New York. At New York Mr. Mount studied under several noted voice teachers and voice builders, and his father, dying brought him to Bay City to look after his interests, where he now resides, enjoying the fruits of his labors as an able and conscientious teacher. For three years Mr. Mount was organist of the First Baptist church, Bay City, and as pianist has been a hard student, acquiring a finished technique and a clear insight into the best compositions of both the classic and modern schools. It is in voice, rather than any other department, that Mr. Mount has acquired his excellent reputation as a teacher, and, whether in the Bay City church choirs or out of them, wherever a singer has obtained a sound method and finished style, the credit of such an achievement can, invariably, be traced to Mr. Mount's painstaking efforts. While in Detroit, Mr. Mount was basso in the Woodward Avenue Congregational church a position now held by his conferee, Edwin C. Crane, who, as director of the choir, is doing, as is always expected of him, excellent work. A genial disposition and a liberal treatment of all with whom he has professional business relations, has made many friends for Mr. Mount in Bay City.
