1839 Map of Michigan

Maps Notes
  1. Bay County doesn't appear on this map as it wasn't organized as a county until 1857.
  2. It is interesting to compare the 1839 map to a current one to see the dramic differences in county territories. This link will open {Current Michigan County Map} in a new window, reside it and the present window so both are showing.
  3. Bay county was organized in 1857 from portions of Midland and Saginaw counties, and all of Arenac county. Arenac thirty some years later was once again organized as a county.
