1858 Map of Michigan and Wisconsin, Including Counties.

This map of Michigan - Wisconson is shown below with a larger overlay of the Saginaw Valley counties. Of particular interest are the county boundaries of Saginaw, Midland and Bay counties. When Bay was organized in 1857 it took portions of Saginaw and Midland, and all of Arenac. Saginaw in Midland until that time had a boundary along the Saginaw Bay.

This map seems to indicate that Saginaw county retained a boundary along the Saginaw Bay west of the Saginaw River, which is not consistent with recorded history and may represent an error on the part of the mapper.

Reference: See the {Michigan 1853 Map for boundaries of Midland and Saginaw counties prior to the organization of Bay County.
