"Kids Tour" of Bay County History / The End

"The End" Of Our Tour!
Fish - End of Tour!

I hope that you learned something new about our community and its history. When we know the history of things, we have a better understanding and appreciation of our world and the place where we live. The schools we go to and the parks where we play are more than places when we think about how many people enjoyed them before us.

The Main Section Of Bay-Journal.

The main section of Bay-Journal has a lot of interesting things that you may enjoy seeing as well. If you would like to visit some of them, I've picked a few pages for you that I like:

(These links will open a new browser window that you need to close when you are done.)

{John Clarkson}
Do you like to play baseball? If so, you might be interested in knowing about Mr. John Clarkson -- he was one of the all time great pitchers and is in the Hall of Fame. While he wasn't born in Bay City, he lived here before and after playing professional baseball..

{Defoe Shipbuilding}
If you like boats? Our community has long history associated with shipbuilding. If you've been to Veterans Memorial Park, you've probably seen the water inlet near the Community Center building -- that was used by the Davidson Shipyard to launch schooners (large sail ships). Defoe Shipbuilding made several hundred military ships, yachts, tugs and other vessels.

{James G. Birney}
Mr. Birney is an important person who settle in our community before many lived here. He ran for President of the United States two times!

{Arnold's Bakery}
Mr. Fred Arnold is high on my list of favorite people -- he started the first bakery business here! His donuts and breads were so good, even the native Indians loved eating them!

{Annie Taylor}
Do you know of any teachers that ever went over Niagara Falls in a barrel? Well, that's what Miss Tayor, a Bay City teacher, did in 1901! Its a story that you may want to share with your teacher and class mates.

{Pictorial Library}
This is a large section of Bay-Journal with hundreds of old pictures. Maybe your family will enjoy seeing them with you? You can be their "tour guide"!

Well that's the end of my tour on Bay County history.
I hope you learned something and that it was enjoyable!

As for me, I'm heading over to the "Kidz Only" section of Bay-Journal where I help kids do some "fun things!"

Hey... while I'm thinking about it, would you do me a favor? Share some of what you'br learned on the history tour with your friends. Tell that about me and that I would like to I'd like to meet them.

Hope to see you again soon!

Your friend...

Bubbles
